So i goofed up yesterday by overwriting my food.rasterboy.com stylesheet with a client’s, destroying a few weeks worth of work in the process. After freaking out for a bit I decided to reach out to Dreamhost’s online support.  Luckily, they provide automatic backups everyday so I was able to recover the files from a previous state in a matter of few clicks.  Thanks guys, you rock.

Holy crap, I didn’t expect server migration to be such a huge pain in my arse.  Finally backed up everything from my old MediaTemple server and shifted them over to my shiny new DreamHost one. 

Had a host of DNS issues in the beginning esp with hooking up Tumblr due to some little quirks, but overall I’m happy with the change (so far!).

Although I didn’t have specific things that I disliked about MediaTemple, I will say that it is pretty overpriced given how little control you get.  If I’m paying close to double that of other hosting plans, I’d at least expect unlimited sub-domain and domain hosting.  I pay for the space so why can’t I use it to serve however many domains I want?  Luckily, DreamHost does just that.
